Each year Sandhill Telephone Cooperative works in conjunction with the Foundation for Rural Service (FRS) to provide educational opportunities for the young people in our service area.
The FRS, along with local cooperatives like Sandhill, awards twenty-five $2500.00 scholarships to rural high school seniors across the country. Applications are available in the late fall of each year.
Also, Sandhill annually sponsors 1 or 2 students for the Washington, D.C. Youth Tour, hosted and conducted by the Foundation for Rural Service.
The all expense-paid tour includes travel, accommodations, meals, activities and entertainment and provides students a first-hand look at the telecommunications industry, governmental processes and famous historical sites in the nation’s capital.
Eligible students must be high school juniors under 18 years old at the time of the trip, receive telephone service from Sandhill and complete a 200-word essay.
Contact Sandhill Telephone Cooperative at 658-3434 for more information.
